Chelsea is a Licensed Master Social Worker, earning her MSW degree from Fordham University's Graduate School of Social Service, with a specialized Certificate in Crisis and Resilience. Her area of focus is women's reproductive rights, sexual trauma and conflict resolution. Fusing her experiential and empirical knowledge of dance’s transformative and healing qualities with her intrinsic work toward equality, justice, and respect. She is a proud activist and advocate for social justice, reproductive rights, and AIDS/HIV awareness.
Most recently, Chelsea worked as a High Impact Practices Coordinator for the United Nations Foundation, FP2030. She was part of the logistical team, coordinating the Postpartum and Post-abortion Family Planning Workshop in Nepal. Bringing together over 150 delegates, civil society members, and practitioners from over 17 countries.
Chelsea is also a psychotherapist with Canalside Psychological Health, PLLC.
Previously, she was an intern at the United Nations, working in advocacy and implementation with the United Nations Association of NY/ NYC. Additionally, Chelsea interned for the Public-Private Alliance Foundation, dealing with solar-powered cookstoves in Haiti. Here, she co-chaired a Parallel event at the UN hosted by the NGO Committee on the Status of Women - in conjunction with CSW67 - on climate justice and technological empowerment for women and girls.
Chelsea sits on the board for the Fordham Institute for Women and Girls; she has written and been published by Fordham and the United Nations Association - NYC and is currently co-authoring a UN book chapter on child sex trafficking with Dr. Gopal.
She has spoken and been awarded at the New York Academy of Medicine, highlighting the importance and benefits of movement interventions for youth, youth relationships, consent and mental health.
She has been an active volunteer and independent fundraiser for Dancers Responding to AIDS, since 2005. She curated an independent gallery fundraiser, solidifying sponsorship contacts with Brooklyn Gin, Gay Men’s Health Crisis Center, and AIDS WALK NY, with all proceeds donated to DRA.
She has worked with The Gibney Dance Company as a Community Actionist, leading Hands Are For Holding Assemblies. This school based assembly program uses dance to address bullying, equity, and choice in everyday interaction. Chelsea was trained in conjunction with the Mayors Office to End Domestic and Gender-Based Violence, and offered in partnership with Day One.
As a former Teaching Artist for ASTEP- Artists Striving to End Poverty, she created and taught movement based class plans for children based on assigned locations around New York City. She sat as Ambassador to the Free Body Project, an organization working at the intersection of Dance and Social Justice.
Chelsea is honored to be an invited member of The Margie Gillis Legacy Project. Awarded performance rights of Torn Roots and Broken Branches and performing alongside prominent American and Canadian artists. She also participates in Ms. Gillis’ Post Conflict Transformation Workshops, participating in Margie’s powerful and forward-thinking method of transformation through dance and its powerful effect on social change.
