Chelsea Bonosky grew up in Rochester, NY, studying under the mentorship of Timothy M. Draper at The Draper Center for Dance Education.

Upon graduating, she attended New York University’s prestigious TISCH School of the Arts.

Chelsea had the honor of performing for several years with London-based company Punchdrunk, in their immersive production of Sleep No More, NYC.  

She has been creating, performing, assisting and working administratively with Adam Barruch since their initial meeting at Springboard Danse Montreal in 2009. In 2016 they formed, Anatomiae Occultii, where she acts as Associate Director. 

She assists Adam in setting company commissions (including: Gibney Dance, River North Dance Chicago, The Limon Company, Ailey II, Ballet X, Keigwin + Company, Groundworks) as well as university creations and teaching (including: New Zealand School of Dance, Princeton University, The Boston Conservatory, The Ailey/Fordham B.F.A. Program, Marymount Manhattan College, Brockport University). 

Together the pair have performed / held residencies at such notable spaces as The 92St. Y: Buttenweiser Hall, Jacob’s Pillow: Inside/Out, The Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, The Yard at Martha’s Vineyard, Lobero Theater in Santa Barbara, ART Cake Gallery, and in Tokyo, Japan. 

In 2012, their short-film collaboration with filmmaker Nel Shelby, Folie a Deux, was screened and at the Dance On Camera Festival in Lincoln Center. 

The duo traveled to Tokyo where they performed in a site-specific performance and were featured in two dance music videos for Tokyo-based musical act mishmash*  

They have been working with the blessing of Stephen Sondheim to create a dance theatre production, of Sweeney Todd; The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Holding creative residencies at The Lobero Theatre (Santa Barbara), The Signature Theatre (NYC), Gibney Dance (NYC), and Lake Placid Center for the Arts (NY).

The pair created and performed their first site-specific work, TRAUMNOVELLE, which ran to a sold-out 2-week run.  By popular demand, the pair held a second sold-out run to rave reviews, adding more shows to accommodate demand.

In 2018, Chelsea performed in and produced her first solo show, entitled LUNA, presented at The Agnes Varies Performing Arts Center in Manhattan (Gibney Dance). It was an evening of four solos she created, collaborated, and performed in, in collaboration with Adam Barruch, Pavel Zustiak, Gabrielle Lamb, and Mary Carter. The sold-out run acquired rave reviews and additional performances of each solo throughout New York City.

She partnered with the phenomenal director Justin Ervin and shot a site-specific dance film of her piece from LUNA created in collaboration with Mary Carter.  The film was awarded and screened in the ADF Movie by Movers Festival and showcased in New York City.  

Chelsea is honored to be an invited member of The Margie Gillis Legacy Project. Awarded performance rights of Torn Roots and Broken Branches and performing alongside prominent American and Canadian artists. She also participates in Ms. Gillis’ Post Conflict Transformation Workshops, participating in Margie’s powerful and forward-thinking method of transformation through dance and its powerful effect on social change.

She also works for Sarah Elgart/ Arrogant Elbow, specializing in site- specific performances and films. Her performance in the dance film, Ghost Story, which featured fashion by ISSEY MIYAKE USA, and produced by The Stephen Gassman Studios, was screened at many film festivals including The Cannes Film Festival and Berlin Fashion Festival. Chelsea performed in a site-specific dance performance with Ms. Elgart in NYC under the iconic PEPSI sign in Long Island City and traveled with her to perform at Jacob’s Pillow in its first site-commissioned-based performance.

She is also a guest artist for Josh Beamish (MOVE: The Company), performing in his Joyce Season, as well as for Gabrielle Lamb (Pigeonwing Dance), performing at her season at 92St. Y, has worked with Sidra Bell and was an apprentice with Stephen Petronio.

Chelsea was honored to be invited by Alexandra Wells to teach at the Hubbard Street Professional Program in the fall of 2019, as well as the Gibney Pro Program in 2024. Leading technique (Dynamic Sequencing), pilates, and Anatomie Occultii repertoire classes.
